Thomas Aylward Obituary

Thomas Edward Aylward, of Delhi Township, passed away on April 20, 2024.  For a numbers guy this was 4.20.2024 forward and backwards, which has meaning for the family.  Tom married Joyce Aylward, and they were blessed with two children: Lisa and Pat.  In 1979, Tom lost Joyce and became a single dad and set out to raise his children the best he could.  He worked in the banking industry and worked his way up to Auditor, and he traveled all over the country.  He used to joke about all the miles he raked up along the way.  Tom was a hobbyist photographer, which he learned from his father. Every family trip the kids had to pose in front of the greatest backdrop that he saw from his eyes... even if in some of those pictures they were standing a little too close to the edge. There are many memories in those photos and even more laughs that have been had over the years.

Tom was also a collector of many things, but if you ever walked into his home his collection of licenses plates all over his house would surprise you... (good luck to his kids for patching all those holes.) He enjoyed going to flea markets all over, finding good plates and even went so far to be a member of the ALPCA (Automobile License Plate Collector Association.) He enjoyed traveling to their conventions each year.

When he wasn't at flea markets, he enjoyed playing cards.  He met many friends at the Delhi Senior Center and Green Township Senior Center playing cards over the years.

Tom left his legacy of collecting to his children: Lisa Eisenschmidt and Pat (Stephanie) Aylward Sr.; and grandchildren: Jaclyn (Parth Patel) and Catherine Eisenschmidt, Patrick T. Jr and Gracie Aylward.

Tom was buried next to his wife Joyce Aylward and his parents: Paul and Mary C. (McMahon) Aylward at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
