Rose Campbell Obituary

Rose Marie McGuire Campbell entered this world on February 18, 1929 and stitched her way into many lives over the past 92 years. She was born in Okeana, Ohio to Arthur and Gussie (nee Clemons) McGuire.  She had an older brother. Leroy (Bud), and younger sister, Hazel.  She married Thomas Jefferson “Jeff” Campbell on March 15, 1947.  Rose was dedicated to giving her best to her two children, James and Kimberly.  Birthdays were always celebrated with homemade butterscotch pies or a yellow cake with caramel icing.  She was an amazing cook and enjoyed feeding family and friends.  Rose worked as the Meals on Wheels coordinator at the Miami Township Senior Center, Cleves, Ohio, for many years.  Her husband, Jeff, passed away in 1989. After retiring, to fill her time, several of her widowed friends, began traveling and going on adventures, which she greatly enjoyed.  Rose often said “Who has more fun than people?”  This was her outlook on life and the wonderful friendships she had.  Over the years, quilting became not only her hobby, but passion. Rose loved nothing more than stitching.  After being diagnosed with macular degeneration, Rose set a goal to make quilts for her two children before losing her eyesight.  Not only did successfully complete those, she went on to complete numerous quilts, enough to share with many family members, before becoming legally blind.    Rose was a member of the St. John’s Evangelical UCC Church in Harrison, Ohio.  She was active with the Women’s Fellowship for many years and enjoyed helping prepare meals for families after funerals (her cheesecake was always requested), and she loved working the rummage sales.  Rose’s church and church family held a special place in her heart.  She enjoyed time with her family and special times with her son, Jim, on his houseboat, especially for the river view of the WEBN Fireworks display.  When the Coast Guard River Patrol stopped by to check the vessel, Rose invited them onboard to join them for lunch, which they did.

Rose passed away on May 7, 2021 and is now in her heavenly home with her husband: Thomas Jefferson “Jeff” Campbell; grandson: Thomas J. Campbell, II; parents: Arthur and Gussie (nee Clemmons) McGuire; brother: Leroy “Bud” McGuire and sister Hazel I. Kraus.

Rose’s legacy will live on in her children: James (Yvonne “Vonnie”) Campbell, Kim (Fred) Garrett; beloved grandchildren: Teresa (Lloyd) Durham, Melissa Teegarden, Kristin (Chris) Hobbs, Kelly (Robert) Greenwell; Brandon (Tina) Garrett & Anthony “Scott” Torres. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren; great great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family.
