Mona Lee (Plunkett) Keyes

Mona Lee Keyes, age 93, of Bright, IN, passed away on November 21, 2022.  Mona was born on December 22, 1928, in Addyston, Ohio to Newton and Agnes Plunkett (nee Meeks). Her father died from tuberculosis when she was two months old. Her mother later married Bert Rankin, and he was always her Dad. Mona wed Amos E. Keyes on May 22, 1948, in Sayler Park, Ohio. 
 
Besides raising a family and farming, Mona worked and retired from Seagram's Distillery in Lawrenceburg, IN.  After retirement and the passing of her husband, she enjoyed travelling the country with her sister. They particularly loved exploring Kentucky and the south. Mona loved to meet new people. She and Amos started the Keyes produce stand at their home in Bright in the 1960's. She always enjoyed raising and selling her produce and the opportunity to talk with new and old friends. 

Mona was preceded in death by her husband: Amos; brother: Newton (Mickey) Plunkett;, sister: Elsa Catherine Rankin; father: Newton Plunkett; mother: Agnes Rankin; and stepfather: Bert Rankin.

Survivors include her children: Edward (Joyce) Keyes, Kenneth (Sue) Keyes, Michael (Denise) Keyes and Charles (Penny) Keyes. She will also be dearly missed by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, OH 45030 on Saturday, November 26, 2022, from 11:00 AM until the time of funeral service at 12:00 PM. Burial to follow at Gibson Cemetery in Bright, IN. 

Memorials may be made to the Bright Volunteer Fire Department and Life Squad or to the Bright Lions Club through the funeral home.
