Melvin Grubbs Obituary
Melvin "Chubby" Grubbs, age 67, of Harrison. Passed away with his family by his side on January 24, 2015.
He was born to Russell "Poncho" and Ethel (Ripperger) Grubbs on July 12, 1947 in Hamilton, Ohio. He was the big brother to his 4 sisters: Donna, Karen, JoAnn and Sandy. Chubby was blind however that didn't stop him from enjoying life and being involved with the Harrison community and beyond. He was a Ham operator. For many school bus drivers he was a daily communicator of accidents, weather and simple friendship through his CB radio. This communication also extended to other Ham operators around the area and beyond.
Chubby was preceded in death by his parents: Russell and Ethel Grubbs.
Survivors include his 4 sisters: Donna (Jim) Renck, Karen Holley, JoAnn (Ray) Wandsnider and Sandy (the late Danny) Sykes. His many wonderful neices, nephews, great nieces and nephews and his numerous friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 4PM until 8 PM, at the Brater-Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Harrison, Ohio. Burial will follow the Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Harrison. Fr. Jeffrey Kemper will officiate the Mass.
Memorials may be made to the Lions Club or St. John the Baptist Church through the funeral home. You may give your donation at the visitation or the Mass to a funeral home representative. If you are unable to come please mail your donation to the funeral home. They will notify the family of your donation.
