Leo Rolfes Jr. Obituary

Leo H. Rolfes Jr., of Harrison, Ohio passed away on October 11, 2021, at the age of 78. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio to Leo Sr. and Carolyne (nee Anthony) Rolfes. On August 8, 1964, he married Jo Ann Schaumloeffel, and they were blessed with two children, Lee and Jenny.


In his professional career, Leo worked as a criminal investigator for the IRS, oversaw security and warehouse operations for Victory Wholesale Grocers in Springboro, Ohio, and was an independent private investigator. He was very active in the community, serving as a school board member for Southwest Local School District in addition to being an involved parishioner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Harrison, Ohio.


Leo graduated from Xavier University and has been a dedicated fan of the Xavier Men's Basketball program.  In his free time, Leo was an avid golfer, model train enthusiast, and enjoyed snowmobiling and deep sea fishing.  Most recently, he enjoyed seeing the country with his family via RV. He loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. Leo never knew a stranger, and he greatly cherished all the wonderful friendships he had built over the years.

Loving memories of Leo will be carried on by his wife: Jo Ann Rolfes; children: Leo "Lee" (Nancy) Rolfes III and Jennifer (Neal) Kaminski; grandchildren: Tyler Brunen, Miles Kaminski, Louis Kaminski; great grandchildren: Bella and Tinsley Brunen; siblings: Harriett (Robert) Doyle, William (Donne) Rolfes, and Walter (Madeline) Rolfes. Leo was preceded in death by his parents: Leo and Carolyne Rolfes Sr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 15th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 10010 Carolina Trace Rd, Harrison, Ohio on Saturday, October 16th at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.

Due to COVID related health concerns, the family is requiring masks to be worn at the Visitation and requesting masks to be worn for the Mass of Christian Burial at the church.

Memorials may be made to "Translational Immune Therapy Cancer Research Fund" which directly impacts research done by Dr. Don Benson.  The Rolfes family is forever grateful to Dr. Benson for performing Leo's stem cell transplant over 8 years ago and for remaining supportive of the Leo's health ever since.  A funeral home representative will be available to accept memorials, or you may mail them to Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S.
