Joan Mae Skipton

Joan Mae (nee Bybee), Age 77, Resident of Harrison, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at her home. She was the daughter of Wilburn & Anna Mae (nee Moore) Bybee and was born on January 29, 1937. Joan grew up with siblings: Robert, Paul, Mildred, Wilma, Helen, Rob & Claudia. She attended and graduated from Harrison High School in 1955. On May 25, 1957, Joan married Ronald E. Skipton and they have 3 children: Rhonda Jo, Scott Edward, & Julie Ann. She spent many of her working years as a loan officer at the Harrison Building and Loan. Family was the most important thing to Joan. She loved spending time with her children & grandchildren, whether it was a holiday or just an average day. She could always be found at one of the grandchildren's sporting events or activities. She loved to tailgate before the Thomas More Saints played football, and was an avid Shelbyville Golden Bear fan. For many years the family would take vacations in the summer to Gulf Shores, which Joan loved. In May 2013, Joan & Ronald and the kids ended up at Gulf Shores at the same time which was an "extra" special trip for Joan. Prior to her illness, Joan worked at the Miami Whitewater Church Food Pantry. Most people will remember Joan for her sense of humor, and friendliness.

Those surviving who will honor her memory include loving husband: Ronald E. Skipton; beloved children: Rhonda Jo, Scott Edward (Melody), & Julie Ann (Tracy) Ellis; cherished grandchildren: Brittany Ellis, Kristoffer Skipton, Tyler Ellis, Chelsey Skipton, Annie Ellis & Cassady Skipton; loving siblings: Paul Bybee, Mildred Dunagin, Rob Bybee, & Claudia Steinfort.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Wilburn & Anna Mae (nee Moore) Bybee; and siblings: Robert Bybee, Wilma Minges, & Helen Harper.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 28, from 5-8PM at the Brater-Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, OH 45030. Funeral Service will be Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 11AM at Miami Whitewater UMC, 9700 Dry Fork Road, Harrison, OH 45030.
