Gary L. Roberts, of Harrison, passed away on May 26, 2021 at the age of 81. Gary was born on October 16, 1939 in Evansville, IN to Lorenzo “L.D.” and Eva (nee Collier) Roberts. He married June 11, 1966 to Judith Kendrick. Gary went to Georgetown College and then attended Xavier University for his Masters degree. He went on to teach at a high school in Monroe, Ohio and in 1968 relocated to Harrison to teach at William Henry Harrison High School. Mr. Roberts taught Social Studies and English for 31 years and retired. He went back and was a study hall monitor for an additional 14 ½ years. Gary was active in the Harrison Avenue Baptist Church. He was an avid reader, especially of the Bible, enjoyed gardening and flowers, and was happy to be on the mower. Gary and Judy enjoyed traveling together and going on family trips to Orange Beach.
On June 11, Gary and Judy would have been married for 55 years. Gary will live on in all of those that love him especially his wife: Judy; sons: G. David & Matt Roberts; Brothers-in-law & Sisters-in-law: Iris Schultz, Carol Kendrick, Cliff (Robin) Kendrick, & Wayne (Melanie) Kendrick. Also, by his cousins that were like his siblings: Debbie (Daniel) Jeffries, Ron (June) French, Martha (Bill) Swanson, Marian Sheridan, Janice Kensell, Helen (Jerry) Delkes, Phyllis Doyle, Jim Collier, & Larry Collier.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents: LD and Eva Roberts.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Harrison Avenue Baptist Church, 1125 Harrison Ave., Harrison, OH 45030. There will also be another visitation on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am all at the church. Graveside services will follow at New Haven Cemetery.
