David R. Windhorst, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana passed away on November 25, 2020 at the age of 73. David was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Waldo E. Windhorst and Arlene Reuter. David married Gayle Ettensohn on November 20, 1971 and together they were blessed with 6 children. David worked for 23 years as a history teacher in the Colerain School District. After retiring from teaching, David went on to become a mortgage broker. David loved to ride motorcycles, travel, coaching sports, playing golf, and spending time with his family. David was very active in his church as well.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife: Gayle (nee Ettensohn) Windhorst; beloved children: Kelly (Dane) Valatka, Christopher (Christina) Windhorst, Sarah Daniels, Matthew (Anne-Marie) Windhorst, Benjamin Windhorst, and Robert (Abby) Windhorst; grandchildren: Savannah, Isaac, Lacey and Christopher Luke Windhorst, Logan, Jaxson and Addison Daniels, Eliza and Eve Windhorst, Carson Windhorst, Landon, Wesley & Daxton Windhorst; father: Waldo E. Windhorst; siblings: Daniel (Denise) Windhorst and Peter Windhorst, cousins: Tom & Martha; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his mother: Arlene (nee Reuter) Windhorst.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 1st, 2020 from 10:00 am to 10:30 am for at-risk attendees and will be open to the public from 10:30 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints meetinghouse, 6168 Martha Dr. North, Aurora, Indiana, 47001.We will be following social distancing guidelines and all attendees are required to wear a mask. Graveside service immediately following at Gibson Cemetery in Bright, Indiana.
