Cornelius "Corny" Jonas

Cornelius "Corny" E. Jonas, of Harrison, Ohio passed away December 29, 2019 at the age of 83. Corny was born in Cedar Grove, Indiana on September 29, 1936 to Charles & Frances (nee Fliehman) Jonas. Served in the U.S. Army. April 20, 1963, he married Peggy Biddle and together they were blessed with 4 sons and 1 daughter. Corny loved his family, especially the little ones and they really loved him. He had a good work ethic and it showed in his 31 years of employment at the US Postal Service. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and golfing.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife: Peggy Jonas; beloved children: Mary Ann (Jerry) Heimkreiter, Philip (Brenda) Jonas, Matthew (Leah) Jonas, Mark (Danielle) Jonas & Daniel (India) Jonas; adored grandchildren: Todd (Emily), Bradley (Colby), Brandon (Jessica), Andrew, Frank, Nathan, Wyatt, Jonah, Eli, Isaiah, Kyle, Anna, Jane, Mary Beth, Emma, Ellie, & Mya; treasured great grandchildren: Vivian Rose, Vera Mae, Lucy Lynn, Emmett, Bennett, & Shepard; much loved siblings: Rita Viel, Mary (Jerome) May, John Jonas, Margaret (Jim) Betscher; & numerous nieces and nephews.
Corny is preceded in death by his parents: Charles & Frances Jonas; his brother: Charles Jonas; brother-in-law: Dale Viel; sister-in-laws: Betty Jonas & Jean Jonas.
Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 6, 2020 from 5-8 pm at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 am, Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 10010 Carolina Trace Rd., Harrison, Ohio. Burial to follow at Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery, Cedar Grove, Indiana with military honors provided by the U. S. Army and the Harrison Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul, Honor Flight or Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund through the funeral home. You may bring your donation at the time of the visitation and a funeral home representative will be able to assist you.
