Carol Mae Modafari passed away on August 24, 2022, at the age of 80. She had a heart of pure gold, always thinking of others first. Carol was a tremendously hard worker, working at St. Francis / St. George Hospital for many years, but she still always made time for her Friday hair appointments! Carol enjoyed socializing with her family, friends and caring neighbors. Spending many fun years camping, she enjoyed horseshoes and many of the clubhouse activities, often bringing home a trophy! She gave the very best singing telegrams, especially on birthdays!
Whenever the Reds or Bengals played, she enthusiastically cheered them on and loved watching the games on television. “Don’t call me when the game is on” was a classic Carol quote. There was often discussion among her family that one day she would become manager of the Reds, since she was such a great ball player in her youth!
One thing Carol always did was love her family. Those left to carry on her legacy are her children: Nicole Modafari and Daniel Gumz Jr.; siblings: William Borgman, Linda Blevins, June Kersey, Lawrence Borgman; & many nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her parents: Harry and Mary Borgman; siblings: Rita Hodge, Audrey Humphrey, Marilyn Smith & Richard Borgman.
Mausoleum Service scheduled for Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at 10:30 AM at Vine Street Hill Cemetery. The family asks that you make a donation to a charity of your choice or do something nice for someone who needs it. As St. Patrick’s Day will not be the same without Carol at the party, expect future details on a celebration of life in her honor. She was always dressed up and ready to have fun with family and friends during her favorite holiday of the year—hope folks can join!
