Mary Westrich Obituary

Mary Frances (nee Smith) Westrich, of Bright passed away on May 2, 2019 at the age of 89. She was born on January 6, 1930 in Logan Township, Indiana to Russell and Grace (nee Henderson) Smith. She married Frank Westrich on November 5, 1949 and they were blessed with a daughter Janilee. Mary and Frank enjoyed traveling to Florida together and with friends to the Smoky Mountains. They would travel hours for lunch from driving to Breah, KY for Chicken and Biscuits to Amish country or simply pack a lunch and picnic at a park. Mary enjoyed being with her friends and was generous with her time. She drove friends to doctor visits and would also make meals for families during their times of need. Mary was known for her famous Mac and Cheese and her German Chocolate Cake. She enjoyed her grandchildren and loved to spoil them.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Frank Westrich in 2016; her parents: Russell and Grace (Henderson) Smith and brother: Dale Smith.

Those left to carry on Mary's legacy are her loving daughter and son-in-law: Janilee and Tim Hamer; cherished grandchildren: Chris (Tanya) Courtney, Terri (Jason) Messmore, Tim Hamer, and Tynille Brayton; dear great-grandchildren: Trevor and Colin Courtney, Ben, Sam & Jacob Doll, Annie and Reili Brayton and Emalyn Hamer and sister-in-law Shirley Smith.

Visitation will be Saturday May 4, 2019 from 1 pm until the time of the funeral service at 3 PM at Dearborn Hills UMC, Bright, IN. Pastor Bob Cannon and Pastor Larry Nielsen will be officiating. Burial to follow at Gibson Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Cincinnati Association for the Blind through the funeral home.
