Ellen Suhre Obituary

Ellen Mae Suhre, of Drewersburg, Indiana passed away July 16, 2019 at the age of 91. Ellen was born in Dearborn County, Indiana on December 27, 1927 to George E. and Flora (nee Mahaffey) Bourquein. Ellen married Robert "Bob" Suhre on January 4, 1948, and together they were blessed with one daughter, Mary Ellen. Early in her married life, Ellen worked for US Shoe and was an EMT with the Drewersburg Fire Department. She later became a full-time homemaker, focusing her life on her family. Ellen was a very creative person. She was an excellent seamstress, quilt maker, and painter. Ellen was a member of the Drewersburg Homemakers Club. She also loved gardening, where she grew flowers, as well as, fruits and vegetables. Ellen and her husband were both members of the Macedonia Christian Church in Okeana, Ohio.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter: Mary Ellen Baker; her beloved grandchildren: April Morgan, Veronica Schulte, and Deanna Fox; and great grandchildren: Lauri, Caleb, and Keegan Morgan, Mackenzie, Leighton, and Ryland Schulte, Catherine, Lynn, and Christina Fox; and her siblings: Norman Bourquein and Marilyn Hopkins Brown.

Ellen is preceded in death by her husband Robert "Bob" Suhre ; her son-in-law: Richard "Rick" Baker; her parents: George E. and Flora Bourquein; and her sisters: Lavonne Wallace, Marie Craft, and Violet Winters.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 22, 2019 from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1 PM at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, Ohio. Burial to follow at Drewersburg Cemetery, Drewersburg, Indiana. The family would like to send a special thank you to the Woodland Country Manor for the wonderful treatment received by Ellen during her stay with them. Memorials may be made to the Drewersburg Fire Department and EMS through the funeral home. You may bring your donation at the time of the visitation, and a funeral home representative will be able to assist you. If you are unable to attend, you may mail your donation to Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, OH 45030.
