Arthur Dierdorf Obituary
Arthur H. Dierdorf, Resident of Harrison, Passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the age of 94. He was the only child born to Arthur and Leatha S. (nee McCullough) Dierdorf on December 20, 1923 in Jackson Township, Clay County, Indiana.
Arthur graduated Brazil, Indiana High School in 1942 and joined U.S.M.S fall of 1942. He had training at Sheephead Bay, NY until December of 1942 and after graduating was at sea for the next 4 years. Arthur married Rosemary Corbin on June 15, 1947 and they were blessed with three children: (Twins) Susan and Sally and son Jon Dierdorf. Arthur began working for Standard Brands Inc, in Terre Haute in 1949 and was transferred to Cincinnati, OH in 1951. He attended the University of Cincinnati for evening classes. Also worked for Diem & Wing Co. and Harrison Ready Mix. Arthur was a member of Masonic Lodge 541 Brazil, IN, Scottish Rite, Eastern Star Chapter 376, and Elks Lodge (Lawrenceburg, IN.) He was also a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, past member of Harrison City Council and Harrison Zoning Board. Arthur was an avid bowler, enjoyed watching grandchildren play soccer and other sports, traveling and making homemade ice cream. He instilled in his children the love of family and always taking care of one another.
Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years Rosemary (nee Corbin) Dierdorf; Devoted children: Susan (John) Roell, Sally (Robert) Ruskaup & Jon (Debbie) Dierdorf; Cherished grandchildren: Lorrie (Patrick) Golden, Steven (Gina) Roell, Allen (Danielle) Ruskaup, Michael ( Jessica) Ruskaup, Kristen (Jason) Campbell, Carrie (Lawrence) Edmister, Kelli (Scott) Tungay & Matthew Dierdorf; Great grandchildren: Christopher, Katelyn, Ryan, Alina, Luke, Gracieann, Andrew, Waylin, Caroline, and Annabeth.
Arthur was preceded in death by his father: Arthur E. Dierdorf, mother: Leatha Dierdorf-Killion, Step father: Charles F. Killion and Step brother: Wilbert (Mary Jane) Killion; great granddaughter: Gabriella.
Visitation will be Monday, January 29, 2018 from 4 pm until the time of the Masonic Services at 7:30 PM. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM in the Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison.
Memorials may be made to St. John UCC or Shriners Hospital.
