William O. Long, lifelong resident of Sayler Park, passed away at the age of 79 on May 16, 2021 surrounded by his family and in his home. He was born on May 7, 1942 in the house his mother was born in on Hillside Ave. Living in Sayler Park you knew everyone and there was a girl Judith Beaver that caught his eye. He married her on October 25, 1963 and they were blessed with 5 children over their 57 years of marriage. Bill worked as an engineer at Gulf (now called Chevron) for many years.
Bill’s memory will live on with his family starting with his loving wife: Judy (Beaver) Long; beloved children: Glendaann (Bobby) Davis, William “Guy” (Desiree) Long, Shannon Long, Leslie Long; cherished grandchildren: Sean (Brett Williams) Davis, Shane (Kelly) Davis, Shandin Davis, Sheena (Brad) Williams, Brooke Long, Morgan Long, Brittani Long, Shyanna Long, Logan Wheeler, Lindsey Dunn, Gage Dunn and Chase Dunn; also 16 great grandchildren. Also survived by his brothers: Dick (Paula) Long, Skeeter (Becky) Long, & Bobby (Karen) Long; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents: Lester and Alice (nee Brater) Long; daughter: Stacy Long; Grandson: Tyler Long; and sister: Pam Schmeh.
