Vina Foster Obituary

Vina Lee Foster (nee Allison) of Bright, born on April 26, 1933 in Hot Springs, NC to Thomas and Nora Mae (nee White) Allison, passed away on December 16th at the age of 88. Anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting Vina instantly loved her. She had a kindness about her that few can claim, along with a big heart, a sharp memory, and the need to help in whatever way she could. As one of thirteen children, Vina was a natural born nurturer who began helping with chores and with her siblings when she was only six years old. She enjoyed taking care of others and did so throughout her life. On July 24th, 1951, she married Edward Hugh Foster and through the marriage she became an incredible mother to their 5 children. In addition to raising her children and helping at school activities, Vina worked in housekeeping at a local hospital. She would often visit patients to offer comfort with her kind smile and soft voice. Vina was an amazing cook and loved to feed everyone. The only judgment she ever passed was on whether or not you were hungry - to Vina, you were. If you didn’t want a full meal, she’d offer you a sandwich, or cake and coffee, and if you didn’t want that, she’d keep offering until she found something you did want. If you needed to know a birthday or anniversary, you asked Vina. She always had those dates locked down. She had a knack for making people feel special – because to her, they were. Always, in the way she lived each day, Vina offered the reminder to be kind to one another. Her legacy will always be one of love – those she loved, and the many, many people who loved her in return. Vina was preceded in death by her husband of over 65 years, Edward Hugh Foster; parents: Thomas and Nora Mae (nee White) Allison, and 11 siblings. Survivors include her devoted children: James T. (Patricia) Foster, Harold (Cindy) Foster, Janice Adams, Allen (Loretta) Foster, & Robert Foster; cherished grandchildren: Charity (Brian) Hoffman; Gideon (Courtney) Foster; Shannon (Jon) Leanza; Keith Adams; Cassie Easton; Aaron Foster; Jake (Hanna) Foster; Mason (Tiffany) Foster; Brittannie (Jarred) Droppleman; Tyler (Sarah), McKenzie, Ashton, Payton, Madeline and Landon Foster. Also survived by her brother Arnold Allison, great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
