Sallie (Hollin) Hiler

Sallie (nee Hollin) Hiler, of Harrison, passed away on May 9, 2021 at Vitas Hospice. Sallie was born on October 17, 1941 in Harrison to Millard and Helen (nee Hibbard) Hollin.  She married Howard Hiler on October 23, 1965 and in there 55 years of marriage were blessed with 4 children: Aaron, Amy, Allison and infant daughter Kari.  Amy gave them 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren that Sallie adored.  Sallie stayed at home with the children and later went to work as a cook for Southwest local school district at Miamitown Elementary.  She enjoyed cooking and at home made the best salmon patties and breakfast egg casserole.  Sallie found peace in the garden and being outside.  She had a green thumb and was awarded the Shaker Hills Garden Club Beautiful garden award one year.  Hummingbirds were one of her favorite birds to watch and when she would go camping, she always brought a feeder along. 

Her memory will live on with her loving and devoted husband: Howard Hiler; beloved children: Aaron B. (Melanie) Hiler, Amy Hiler and Allison “Allie” Hiler; cherished grandchildren: Brittany Goode, Amanda Goode and Olivia Hiler; dear great grandchildren: Zendaya, Hazelynn, Hendrix, and Howard “Howie”; and dear sisters: Martha Metzler and Lillie Snyder.  She is also survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Nancy Woods, Jane Kaiser, Lois Fliehman, David Hiler, Judi Wilson and Larry Hiler. 

Sallie was preceded in death by her infant daughter: Kari Lynn Hiler; parents: Millard and Helen (nee Hibbard) Hollin; brothers: Green, Charlie, Raymond, & George Hollin and sister Ethel Jones.

Visitation will be at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 12 pm.  Pastor Gene Dietz will be officiating.  Burial to follow at Glen Haven Cemetery.  Memorials are requested to Vitas Hospice.  Memorials will be accepted at the funeral home.
