Ronald Scott Kercheval "Scott", of Harrison, passed away on April 24, 2021 at the age of 57. He was born in Cincinnati on May 11, 1963 to Ronald and Judith (Rapking) Kercheval. Scott graduated William Henry Harrison High School and followed into his dad’s footsteps of working for the Harrison Fire Department. He worked as a volunteer and then was one of a handful of full time employees of the department serving from 1981 to 1998. Scott believed in giving back to the community and worked for the American Red Cross for 37+ years. He was an active Football and Lacrosse official. Scott was a caring person and loved to make those around him smile. One of the ways he brought joy to others was dressing up as Santa, a yearly tradition that he has been doing since 1985. Scott was also active in the Knights of Columbus The start of 2021 has been a barrage of Doctor’s appointments and hospital stays to figure out what was going on with his health. He was grateful for the emotional and prayer support he received from family and friends.
Scott was preceded in death by his father Ronald Kercheval and his son Branden Kercheval.
His legacy will live on with his family: loving mother Judy Kercheval; siblings: Curt Kercheval and Peggy (Bill) Westerfeld; children: Brianna Quinn and Bryden (Elizabeth) Kercheval; nieces & nephews: Tyler, Leah & Emily Kercheval, Justin (Sarah) Westerfeld and Shawn (Abby) Westerfeld; great nieces & nephews: Mayson, Morgan, Chase, Camdyn, Avery & Grahm. Scott is also survived by many cousins and his best friend Steven (Holly) Antrobus and his children William and Connor, whom he thought of as family.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 5 pm to 9 pm at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, OH 45030. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 10010 Carolina Trace, Harrison, OH 45030 on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 11 am. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Harrison Fire Department (for the purchase of a drone). Memorials may be given at the visitation or service or mailed to the funeral home.
