Phyllis Grubbs Obituary

Phyllis Grubbs, of West Harrison, lived her life for God and filled every minute with love, happiness, and gratitude.  The smell of pumpkin pie will instantly make her family and friends remember her beautiful smile and laughter.  On September 19, 2022, at the age of 83, while listening to beautiful gospel music, she took her last breath here on earth. Phyllis was born on October 4, 1938, in Hamilton, Ohio to Donald and Thelma (nee Stern) Stokes.  She was a great cook and even better mother to her three children: Darrell, Suzan, and David.  Phyllis lived in California for many years before moving back to Ohio in the mid 1990’s.  She was set up on a blind date with Larry Grubbs by a friend Norma Jo Slagle.  After their first date the only complaint was by Larry of why he wasn’t set up sooner.  It was love and they were married on December 21, 1996.  Phyllis had a heart of gold and always a joy to be around.  She loved serving others, and she did this through Lifespring Christian Church.  She was on the coffee team, food pantry, sponsored children, was a host family and she was always delivering meals to bereaved families or those in need.  Phyllis was a wonderful baker and made everything from scratch.  Her pumpkin pie and Apple crisp were mouthwatering. Phyllis was a woman of many talents: enjoyed gardening and birds, and most important was a hard worker and a meticulous wallpaper hanger. Phyllis loved her family and was a doting grandmother to her 8 grandchildren.

Those left to cherish Phyllis’s memory are her loving husband: Larry Grubbs; cherished children: Darrell (Kim) Clingerman, Suzan Rae Corr, and David (Julie) Clingerman; bonus children: Brent (Lori) Grubbs, Sherri (Jeff) Krimpleman; beloved grandchildren: Zachary (Victoria Utvick), Jacob & Joshua Corr, Kendra Clingerman, Jenna (Jake) Gist, Hannah, Luke & Mary Clingerman, Cody & Danielle Krimpleman; dear brother: Gary (Bonnie) Stokes and many nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was preceded by her parents: Donald and Thelma (nee Stern) Stokes; bonus son: John Stacey Grubbs, and brother-in-law: Richard Grubbs.
