Obituary

Phil Edward Miller was born on May 20, 1937, to Garrett Hobart Miller & Geneva Blanche (Walters) Miller in Paxton, Indiana, Sullivan County. He was the fouth son and brother to Chester, Robert & Jack. Phil lived in Sullivan County and graduated from Carlisle High School in 1955 and went on to earn a Bachelors degree in 1959 and went on for his Master's degree from Indiana State University in Social Sciences and Education.

He married Elizabeth Joan Abrams on August 14,1959 and they were blessed with a son Kyle and daughter Kelly.  Phil began his career teaching Social Studies in 1959 at Linden, Indiana.  In the fall of 1961, the family moved to Boswell, Indiana, where he was to become a school counselor at both high schools in Boswell and Ambia, Indiana.  In the fall of 1966, he and his family moved to Greensburg where he started as Director of Guidance at Greensburg High School.  He retired in 1997 after 38 years in education.  Phil then took to his hobbies.  He traveled the country on his motorcycle into his late 80's, to the chagrin of his children. Phil made the Indy 500 a yearly event with his family. Supporting his grandchildren by watching their many baseball, basketball, football and volleyball games was also very important to him.  Phil's love of God, his children, Kyle and Kelly, and his grandchildren:  Brock, Garrett, Tanner and Addie were the uppermost important.

He attended the Church of Christ from childhood begining with the Bethany and Paxton Churches near where he was raised.  He attended numerous churches over the years that have included the Shelbyville Church of Christ, where he served as treasurer for 18 years, the Greensburg Church of Christ, where he was an adult bible study teacher and lastly, he attended the Sayler Park Church of Christ after moving to Cincinnati.  Phil's belief in God and salvation through Jesus Christ has never wavered. He studied his bible daily.  His hope of a heavenly reward has sustained him.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Chester, Robert and Jack Miller.

Those left to carry on Phil's legacy are his dear children: Kyle (Marie) Miller and Kelly (Doug) Dickerhoff; cherished grandchildren: Brock (Abi) Miller, Garrett (Kimie) Miller, Tanner (Lily) Dickerhoff and Addie Dickerhoff; beloved great grandchildren: Emmie, Rowan, Ivan and Graham Miller and a niece and many nephews.
