Mildred (nee Kendrick) Minges, of Okeana, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at the age of 95. She was born on December 28, 1927, in Harrison, Ohio to Samuel Thomas “Thomas” and Rhoda A (nee Smith) Kendrick. On January 17, 1948, Mildred married Leo Minges and together they were blessed with nine children: Judy, Larry, Sharon, Leo, Danny, Bob, Jerry, Virginia, and Connie. Mildred was very busy with the children, but she also helped on the farm. She loved her garden and canning beans was a family affair. Mildred passed on her love of gameshows to her children as well as her caring compassionate nature. The Minges family was blessed to have such a strong mother figure for 95 years and Mildred’s legacy will live on with her family.
Mildred was preceded in death by her loving husband: Leo Minges, daughter: Virginia Murphy; grandson: Kyle Minges; great granddaughter: Emily Minges; and parents: Thomas and Rhoda Kendrick; siblings: Fred Albert Kendrick, Birtha May Flowers, Eunice Leona Kocher, Hazel Louise Donawerth, Louis Thomas Kendrick.
Those left to carry on her memory are her devoted children: Judy (Larry) Huffman, Larry (Christa) Minges, Sharon (Richard) Dole, Leo (Jennifer) Minges, Danny (Lora) Minges, Bob (Patty) Minges, Jerry (Karen) Minges, and Connie (John) Smith; grandchildren: Lance (Heather) Huffman, Randi (Eddie) Lynch, Jason (Amy) Minges, Ryan (Stacy) Minges, Tyler (Angie) Minges, Justin (Michelle) Minges, Christy (Paul) Bingle, Beth (Jeremy) Waugh, Sarah (Mike) Neal, Jackie (Robert Bentle) Bramscum, Patrick Dole, Alicia (Ben) Alvis, Megan (Zach) Hoock, Caleb (Liz) Minges, Jacob Minges, Josh (Justina) Merkle, Jonny (Taylor) Merkle, Alison (Chris) Grow, Adam (Amanda) Minges, Craig (Christy) Minges, BJ (Madalyn) Minges, Jared (Brenna) Minges, Nathan (Taylor) Minges, Madison Minges, Miranda (Dave) Sheppard, Kelly Bach, Brady, Aaron, and Tanner Smith; great grandchildren: Brady, Rylie, Easton, Mason, Morgan, Kate, Elle, Vivi, Arie, Ruby, Esme, Cecilia, Simon, Cooper, Hayden, Gunner, Lincoln, Michael, Evelyn, Eli, Scarlett, Jude, Penny, Hailey (Matt), Ethan, Mia, Nora, Parker, Presley, Pearla, Hunter, Easton, Ellie, Brentley, Braelyn, Reece, Grady, Julian, Silas, Allie, Kylie, Hunter, Roz, Carter, Eliza, Tucker, Joel, Paxton, Lynnex, Zara, Luke, Emma, Dylan, Damian, and Sterling. Mildred was also a wonderful aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, OH 45030 on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 5 pm to 7 pm. Visitation will also be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Harrison, on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 10 am until 10:45am with Mass of Christian Burial starting at 11 AM. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Morgan Township Fire & EMS through the funeral home. A funeral home representative will be available during the services to accept memorials. If you are unable to attend memorials may be mailed to the funeral home.
