Mary Jo (Sabers) Schmitz, of West Harrison, passed away on August 12, 2021. She was born on August 15, 1940, in Cincinnati to Joseph E and Cecilia (Wagner) Sabers. Mary Jo married Joseph J. Schmitz on October 17, 1959 and would have celebrated 62 years of marriage this year. In those 62 years they made many wonderful memories with her children: David, Kevin, Bruce, Christopher, and Melissa. Mary Jo was wonderful with children and was a stay-at-home mom that supported and provided for her children. She was crafty and enjoyed scrapbooking and ceramics. For each of her children she made a nativity set, which will be cherished by each family. Doing the laundry and ironing, while drinking a Pepsi, was a relaxing day for her. When she became a grandma, she knitted baby blankets for each of her grandchildren and loved chaperoning dances at school for them, enjoyed sporting events, and attended dance recitals. Mary Jo was also an avid bowler and loved anything Disney.
Mary Jo will be missed by her beloved husband Joseph Schmitz; dear children: David (Marybeth) Schmitz, Kevin (Diane) Schmitz, Bruce Schmitz, Christopher (Kim) Schmitz and Melissa (Rich) Moore; cherished grandchildren: Lori (Andy) Finch, Jordan, Caroline, Maria, Lexie, Becca, Jared (Allison), Jermey, Josh (Allie) Brooklyn & Dylan Schmitz, and Kylie, Braden, and Bryson Moore; and 5 great grandchildren. Mary Jo is also survived by her sisters: Kathy Shepard and Barbara (William) Jones, and her brother, the late Bill Sabers (Kathy); and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
