Marliena Fay Hobbs (nee Lawrence), of Harrison, passed away on December 7, 2020 at the age of 80. She was born on May 3, 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Hershel and Virginia (McCane) Lawrence. Marliena married Kenneth Hobbs on September 12, 1959. They were blessed with two children: Carolyn and Hershel. Marliena loved playing bingo and drawing. She enjoyed singing in the Choir. Kenneth was in a back up band that played in the Grand Ole Opry so music was part of the family. Marliena was also a wonderful cook. She made the best Butter Beans, chicken noodle soup, and the dressing for Thanksgiving. Marliena also helped at the St. Johns School volunteering in the Kitchen for many years.
Marliena was preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth Hobbs; parents Hershel and Virginia (nee McCane) Lawrence.
Those left to cherish the wonderful memories are her children: Carolyn (Richard) Fiutem and Hershel (Amy) Hobbs; cherished grandchildren: Andrea (David) Bauer, Catherine (James) Pillischafske, Elizabeth Fiutem and Ashley Hobbs; beloved great grandchildren: Martha, Roscoe & Clark Bauer and Aaron James Pillischafske. She is also survived by her brother Robert Lawrence.
Visitation will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, OH 45030 on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 5 pm to 5:30pm for those with health issues and 5:30 to 8 pm for all. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 10:30am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 10010 Carolina Trace, Harrison, OH 45030. Burial will follow at Baltimore Pike Cemetery, 3200 Costello Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45211. Everyone will be required to wear a Mask and follow social distancing guidelines.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul. A funeral home representative will handle donations during the visitation and at the funeral service. If you are unable to attend please mail your donation to Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, OH 45030.
