Marion Slaughter (nee Mobarry), of Harrison, passed away on February 19, 2022, at the age of 83. Marion was born on January 2, 1939, to Edward and Elizabeth (nee Mark) Mobarry. On November 20, 1982 she married Roger Slaughter and together they raised their children: Sandy (Greg) Krabbe, Charlie (Dee) Krabbe, and Dr. Janice (Kevin) Krabbe. Marion was a fierce, strong, and independent woman. She lived a fulfilling life surrounded by family and the many children she raised along the way. Marion was highly intelligent, she even skipped the 6th grade due to her academic scores. She enjoyed many hobbies to include: sewing dresses and uniforms for the Civil War reenactments they performed, ceramics, upholstery and chair caning, bowling, square dancing, and earned many track awards in High School.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband: Roger Slaughter; devoted children: Sandy (Greg) Krabbe, Charlie (Dee) Krabbe, and Dr. Janice (Kevin) Krabbe; grandchildren: Jamie (Sean) Gillispie, Jessika (Zac) Ashcraft, Adam (Nicole) Krabbe, Michael Krabbe, Charles (Emily) Krabbe Jr., Alexander Dalziel, Christian Dalziel, and Emma Krabbe; great grandchildren: Austin Pope, Ellie Loux, Phoebe Gillispie-Metts, Jordan Loux, Madix Ashcraft, Krue Ashcraft, and Jack Krabbe; sister-in-law: Dianne Dohn; nieces and nephews: Marsha Jo, Brett, David, Bonnie, Mark, Paul, Eugene, David, Rich, Jeannie, Debbie, Nancy, Greg, Michelle, Mark, Steve, Candy, and Shannon; special friends: Betty, Richard, Kevin, Billy, Wanda, Robyn, Art, and Gail.
Marion was preceded in death by her son-in-law: Robby Gillispie; granddaughter: Rosa Avila; parents: Edward and Elizabeth Mobarry; siblings: Edward (Eve) Mobarry, Vernon Mobarry, Lou (Bob) Stahl, Eugene Mobarry, Melvin Mobarry, Joyce (Rich) Koopman.
Visitation will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, Ohio 45030, on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm. Burial to follow at St. Joseph New Cemetery.
The family requests memorials be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Harrison High School Art Scholarship in honor of Rosa Avila.
