Kelly Lynn Kennedy passed away June 18, 2020 at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center at the age of 51.
Kelly loved to bake chocolate chip cookies, even knew to pull them out of the oven a minute or two before the directions said so that the centers would be gooey. She liked to watch the Peanuts specials on TV long after her kids had become too cool to watch them with her. She liked reading. And watching to see if the Orioles would take the orange-slice bait on the back deck. She made s’mores on the gas stove when it was too cold to make a campfire.
She taught her daughters to love stories and learning. To listen. She taught them to be smart and independent. To speak up, loudly and clearly. She was thrilled to see her daughter begin to teach the same to her granddaughter.
She would put on make-up and curl her hair even when she wasn’t going anywhere, just to surprise her husband when he got back from work. And she baked the same vanilla cake, with cherries, every year for his birthday.
One time she hiked the entire six miles, there and back, of the Little River Trail in the Smoky Mountains. She recently found joy in sailing, for the freedom granted from the wind and water.
She was beautiful and kind, strong and smart; even if she didn’t know it.
She will be greatly missed by her family, and her memories live on in them.
