Kathleen (Siegert) Eckel

Kathleen Eckel of West Harrison, Indiana passed away on May 18, 2023, at the age of 85. She was born on June 6, 1937, to Raymond and Eugenia "Jean" (nee Borgman) Siegert.  She moved to Harrison as a freshman in High School from Western Hills and graduated William Henry Harrison High School class of 1956.  She married her high school sweetheart, Clyde Eckel, on June 27, 1956. Kathleen loved her family and was so happy to be a mom of three boys: Clyde Jr., Jeffrey and David.  She enjoyed all of the different stages of her life.  Kathleen was the mom that was always there for her children and their friends. She was a kid at heart herself.  As she became a grandmother, she always stopped what she was doing to play a game or watch a show with her grandchildren. They had her wrapped around their fingers, and she spoiled them.  Kathleen also loved animals (horses, dogs, cats), and she took great pleasure in spoiling the neighbor's dog.  Annual family vacations with the Eckel and Siegert families were special times, from shopping trips to antiquing in Brown County, visiting Gatlinburg or Alaska were some of the highlights over the years. 

Kathleen had a very strong faith as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Loved to laugh about herself, enjoy friends, simple conversations, and life. She chose to dwell on the positive side of things.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Sr.; parents: Raymond & Jean Siegert; brother: Eugene Siegert; & brothers-in-law: Nelson & Donald Eckel.

Survivors include her children: Clyde (Kauni) Eckel, Jr., Jeffrey (Loraine "Lori") Eckel and David (Rebecca) Eckel; beloved grandchildren: Brandon (Tammy), Tyler (Candice) Kaytlynn, Shelbea & Landin Eckel; Great Grandson: Brysen Eckel; brother: Rusty (Donna) Siegert; brother-in-law: Roger (Ginny) Eckel; sisters-in-law: Meridel and Alice Eckel; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023, from 1 pm to 3 pm at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, Ohio.

Memorials may be made to Cross Roads Hospice or PAWS of Dearborn County.  Funeral Home representative will assist during visitation. If unable to attend, please mail donation, payable to the above charity, to Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, OH 45030. The family will be notified.
