Joseph Monroe Jr., of Harrison, passed away on December 1, 2022, at the age of 91. Joe was born on April 14, 1931, to Joseph Sr. and Leora (nee Lange) Monroe in Aurora, Indiana. His family moved to Harrison and growing up his dad owned the local IGA. He graduated from William Henry Harrison High School and then joined the US Navy. While in the Navy he was the store keeper, which was fitting because of his families work. Joe graduated from University of Cincinnati with a Business Degree and married Joyce in 1956 and they were blessed with two children: Kipp and Joel. Joe worked for Sperry Rubber & Plastic Company for many years. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and loved his cars.. especially his Cadillac's. Joe loved being around people, whether it was Tuesday morning coffee group, friends at Whitewater Motors, neighbors, or his friends from the Masons and Odd Fellow's lodge, it didn't matter what they were doing they always had fun with many laughs. Joe and Joyce raised their family in Harrison and eventually moved to Bright as empty-nesters. After retirement Joe and Joyce enjoyed traveling but being home close to family and friends was most important.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Monroe; parents: Joseph Sr. & Leora Monroe; siblings: Madonna Lake, and Jerald Monroe.
Joe is survived by his sons & daughter-in-laws: Kipp (Kathy) Monroe & Joel (Rachel) Monroe; cherished grandchildren: Emma, Audrey, Danny & Ben Monroe; brother Reginald Monroe; and nieces and nephews.
