Jessie Henry

Jessie Henry, of West Harrison, passed away on July 2, 2023, at the age of 81.  Jessie was born on April 14, 1942, in Batesville, Indiana to Walter and Gertrude (nee Shoopman) Henry.  When he was 9 years old, Jessie went to live with his aunt and uncle: Virgil & Audrey Woods.  He was blessed with the Woods family in his life and grew his extended family.  Jessie married Katherine Edwards on October 21, 1959.  He served in the US Army from 1959 to 1962, serving 1 year and 3 months overseas.  After returning home, he started working at Monsanto and worked there until retirement.  On weekends, he loved to get away and take the family camping.  After retirement, they traveled all over the United States in their 5th wheel and Motorhome.  Jessie had a very strong faith in God.  He found it later in life and wanted to make sure that all of his children and grandchildren knew Him too. 

Jessie will be dearly missed by his family especially his beloved wife Katherine Henry; dear children: Cathy (Vince) Smith, Susie (Brad) Kolb and Aaron Henry; cherished grandchildren: Jennifer (Matthew) Stenger, Jane (Austin) Drozin, Ashley, Camryn and Josh Henry; great grandchildren: Henry and Owen Stenger, Dante and Levi Campbell, Cali and Hazel Friedrichson; siblings: Tim (Sheila) Woods, Donna (Jerry) Palmer, Glenda (James) Goodin, Norma "Cookie" Smith. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Jessie was preceded in death by infant children: Jesse David Henry and Amy Marie Henry; great grandchild: Jasper Friedrichson; his biological parents: Walter and Gertrude Henry; parents: Virgil and Audrey Woods; siblings: Dale, Alvin, and Pat Henry, Nellie Kness, and Brenda Yorn.

The family will hold a private celebration of life in the future.
