Henry Cecil "Cecil" Hollin, of Harrison, passed away on December 7, 2020 at the age of 93. He was born on January 27, 1927 to the late James R. and Laura (nee Ferguson) Hollin. He married Norma Jean Acra and they were blessed with a daughter, Gina.
Cecil was an US Army paratrooper in World War II who once remarked that “he took off in airplanes many more times than landing in them”. As a proud 60-year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, he worked as a crane operator on many major construction and demolition projects in the Cincinnati area. He served his community as a firefighter and Captain of the Life Squad in the Harrison Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years. With a cadre of friends, Cecil enjoyed traveling to collector shows around the adjoining states to admire, barter, and sell pocketknives and antique watches. A perfect day was one which involved sitting on a sunny porch, talking to neighbors, watching fast cars, and finishing with a good western movie on television. Cecil had a warm personality and was an instant friend to everyone he met.
Cecil was preceded in death by his wife: Norma Jean (nee Acra) Hollin; parents: James and Laura Hollin; siblings: Juanita, Jean and Vernon.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving daughter and son in law: Gina and Dave Mummert; his beloved granddaughter Jade and her husband Joe Benitez; siblings: Everett (Eleanor) Hollin. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, the funeral service will be private at Brater Winter Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, followed by a public graveside service at 1 pm at Glen Haven Cemetery where social distancing will be observed.
Memorials may be made to Harrison Fire & EMS through the funeral home.
