Edward P Gilbert

Edward P. Gilbert of Sunman, IN, passed away on April 24, 2023, at the age of 94.  He was born on December 12, 1928, to Edward and Mildred (McBreen) Gilbert. Edward enlisted in the US Army during WWII and after coming back from the war he married Evelyn Forunato and they were blessed with four children Debbie, Greg, Patty and Cindy.  Edward worked for the Cincinnati Enquirer as a typesetter.  After leaving the printing business he went to work for Green Township Maintenance which was fitting of what he liked to do in his spare time.  He loved being outdoors gardening. Didn't matter if it was vegetable or flowers he enjoyed playing in the dirt.  Edward also enjoyed being on the water fishing.  Being on his boat on Brookville Lake or East Fork Lake was his home away from home.  Edward taught his children to fend for themselves, be kind and compassionate and love each other.  

Edward was preceded in death by his wife: Evelyn Gilbert; parents Edward and Mildred (McBreen) Gilbert; siblings: Richard & LeRoy Gilbert and Beatrice Race.
Survivors include his children: Debbie (Dan) Rolfes, Greg (Tabitha) Gilbert, Patty (James) Garrison, and Cindy Hardebeck; 9 cherished grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were at the convenience of the family.
