Doris Ann (Jones) Mathena

Doris Ann (nee Jones) Mathena, of Guilford, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at the age of 85. She was born on July 22, 1936, in Woodlawn, Tennessee to James H and Eva (nee Bowers) Jones. Doris devoted to her life to taking care of her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were an immense source of joy in her life. She loved to sew, quilt, and bake. Some of her specialties included her coconut cream pie and banana pudding. Doris’s faith was a very important part of who she was as a person. She lived out her faith by always helping others in any way she could.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving children: Greg (Jawanda) Mathena, Micheal (Teri) Mathena; beloved grandchildren: Valerie (Ian) Petrunia, Travis Mathena, Bradley Mathena, Leanne (Kyle) Tadlock, Darcy (Daniel) Bingham; great grandchildren: Penny Mathena, Hal, Alex, and Kylee Tadlock, and Annaleigh Bingham.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband: Harold Mathena; son: Thomas Mathena; and grandson: Christopher Mathena.

Visitation will held at Legacy Christian Church on Friday, January 14, 2022, from 3:00 pm until the time of service at 5:00 pm. Doris will be buried at a later date in Louisiana next to her husband, Harold.

Memorials may be made to Legacy Builders Fund. A funeral home representative will be available to accept memorials during the visitation and funeral. If you are unable to attend, memorials may be mailed to the funeral home and the family will be notified of your donation.
