Betty Benson Obituary

Betty Lou (Greenham) Benson, of Harrison, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born on May 3, 1930, and graduated from Harrison High School in 1948.

Betty lived in Harrison her entire life. Some of her most cherished memories were from the neighborhood on N. Elm Street, where she raised her family among the wonderful neighbors who she considered life-long friends. Betty worked and retired from Seagram’s Distillery, in Lawrenceburg, after 42 years of service. After retirement, she became an avid reader, enjoyed car rides, which always included an ice cream cone, and attended weekly family dinners. Betty was known for being feisty, strong, selfless, funny, and big hearted. Even at 92, Betty Lou was a wonderful force in every life she touched. She encouraged us to laugh, be strong, and always believe life will improve! Betty provided a fabulous foundation for her family, then welcomed every spouse into the fold.

She will be greatly missed by her children: Herb (Darlene) Benson Jr., Dennis (Cathy) Benson, Joy (Ron) McAdams, and William (Cindy) Benson; daughter-in-law: Judy Benson; grandchildren: Patrick Benson, Amy (Michael) Tucker, Jason (Elizabeth) Benson, Adam (Vanessa) Benson, Erica (Michael) Pernal, Christopher (Andrea) Benson, Cammie McAdams, Kendra McAdams, Molly (Andy) Darpel, Lyndsay (Jayson) Loos; great grandchildren: Emmett Tucker, Liam Loos, Benson Darpel, and Ben, Joe, Quinn, Cade, Casey, Lyla, and Lukas Benson, as well as, many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved son: Russell (Rusty) Benson; parents: William “Mercer” and Mary “Mayme” (nee Doneworth) Greenham; siblings: Dorothy Elrod, Mary Jane Lutz, Louise Greenham, and Bo Greenham, and her dog Waylon.

A private burial service will be held at a later time.
