Barbara (Clifton) Houston, beloved wife, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on January 14, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on August 28, 1950, in Cincinnati, Ohio to James & Elizabeth (Martin) Clifton. Barbara was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many with her warmth, intelligence, and unwavering kindness.

Barbara dedicated herself to her education, earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati and later pursuing a master's degree at Duke University. Her commitment to learning allowed her to excel in her career as a Data Project Manager in the pharmaceutical outsourcing industry. For many years, Barbara contributed her expertise and skill to Quintiles, making a significant impact on the company.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Barbara had a passion for the arts. In her early years, she delighted in the local community theater scene in Pleasant Ridge and even received the prestigious Best Director Award for her outstanding work in the play I Never Sang for my Father. Throughout her life, Barbara found solace in the pages of books, finding joy and inspiration within their words. She possessed a wanderlust spirit and shared countless travel adventures alongside her beloved husband, Jim, particularly cherishing their trips to Europe.

Barbara's memory will forever be treasured by her husband: James Houston; siblings: Bonnie (Michael) Van Horn & Brenda (Sam) Sambi; Nieces & Nephews: Tonya Vail, Troy Vail, Michelle (Todd) Turner, Verena Riley, Carrie Riley, Jay (Jennifer) Van Horn, & Brandon Vail; 13 great nieces and nephews. 

Preceded in death by her parents: James & Elizabeth (Martin) Clifton; and brothers-in-law: Vernon Riley, David Houston, and and nephew: Vernon Wm Riley

A public viewing to honor Barbara's life will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home , 201 S. Vine St., Harrison on January 22, 2024, beginning at 5:00 pm. A funeral service, commemorating her remarkable journey, will follow at the same location at 7:00 pm. Lastly, a graveside service will be held at Clover Cemetery in Williamsburg Twp on January 23, 2024, at 11:00 am, marking her final resting place.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you make a donation to the charity of your choice in memory of Barbara.
