There are people that touch your life and for those that were blessed to know Barbara Day they always received a big smile and humor in daily interactions. So, it is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Barbara J. Day, of West Harrison, IN, on June 30, 2023. Even in the hospital she said she was "Peachy" and she is now no longer in pain and is at peace.
Barb was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 28, 1949 to Wilbert and Dorothy (nee Ellis) Haas. Growing up she spent summers in Michigan on Burt Lake at her family's cabin, where she learned how to water ski and that is where her love of the water began. Michigan memories were special to her. Barb was the proud mom of Casey, Melissa and Lauren. She worked at Southwest Local School District for many years. Kids would remember her from working in the office, study hall teacher or teacher's assistant. She loved being around children. When younger Barb also enjoyed playing soccer. She was also an avid Reds and Bengals fan. Her true pride and joy were her grandchildren. Family vacations to the beach or on the water made wonderful memories for all of them. Vacations also meant playing cards, which she cheated ... a lot and everyone always had many laughs.
Loving others and having a good sense of humor was a true legacy that Barb left with her family.
Especially her devoted daughters: Casey (Daniel) Woycke, Melissa (Al) Lowe, Lauren (Zackery) Hawley; cherished grandchildren: Morgan & Joel Woycke, Kaden & Kamryn Lowe, Carter Helton, Iva & Cooper Hawley.
Preceded in death by her husband David Day; parents: Wilbert and Dorothy Haas; infant brother Wilbert Haas, David Haas (age 5) and James Gordon.
Visitation will be at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030 on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, from 4 to 6 pm with Funeral Service at 6 pm. Burial will be at Glenhaven Cemetery at a later date.
Barb loved animals so the family would like memorials to go to PAWS of Dearborn County to help animals. Funeral Home representative will be able to assist during the visitation. If you are unable to make the services, mail your donation to Brater Winter Funeral Home (made payable to charity).
