Roy Mattlin Obituary
Roy "George" Mattlin Jr., of Miami Township, passed away on May 17, 2020 at his home. He was born on July 20, 1956 to Roy George Sr. and Lena (nee Chandler) Mattlin. Married Terri Bernard on September 20, 1980 and they were blessed with 2 children: Christopher, & Shane.
George was a very loyal man. He'd do anything for those he loved. He was also hardworking and caring. He'd work all day and come home and work the yard or on the house. He would also check in with neighbors to check in and help in anyway he could. The one thing George enjoyed the most was RAcing. He loved dirt track racing, Go-cart racing, Indy car racing. He grew up around Lawrenceburg Speedway, where his father Roy Mattlin Sr. was a promoter in George's younger days. He continued to go there each year and enjoyed hanging out with his "racing family". He went to the Indy 500 for many, many years. He went to many Nascar races over the years too, we'd make family vacations around Nascar racing while raising our two sons - trips to Daytona Speedway meant a trip to the beach. George was involved in Go-Kart racing with his two sons as they grew up, and was proud to even win a championship at one local track. He worked/mechanic on both of his sons Go-karts. George enjoyed going to Las Vegas every year for the past 25 years. Many of those times going with family and friends of 20 or more people. He coached little league baseball in Sayler Park so he could be closer to his two sons who both played on teams he either coached or helped coach (assistant coach). George appreciated everyone that prayed for him and put him on a prayer list during his illness. George touched so many lives and each of his family and friends will miss him dearly.
Those left to carry out his legacy are his loving wife Terri Mattlin; children: Stacey, Christopher, & Shane; Siblings: Patricia (Jack) Smith, Mary Jane(Bob) Love, & Donald (Carol) Mattlin.
George was preceded in death by his parents: Lena (nee Chandler) & Roy Mattlin; siblings: William (Joanne) Mattlin, James (Meeksy) Mattlin , & Margie (Dale) Detmer.
