Mary Tippenhauer Obituary
Mary "Anne" (nee Nelson) Tippenhauer. Resident of Harrison, passed away on May 28, 2017 at the age of 87.
Anne was born on March 17, 1930 in Belle, West Virginia to Youelle and Ruth (nee Bleau) Nelson. She met David Alvin Tippenhauer at Church while he was working in West Virginia and they married on Feb. 17, 1951. In 1952 they moved to Harrison and they moved into the home that they in on N. Vine Street in 1953. David and Anne became very involved in Harrison and volunteered in many youth activities even before they had children. They were youth group leaders at Trinity Methodist Church and Anne was a leader in the girl scouts. They loved children and were blessed with Bev in 1961, Jan in 1964, Rob in 1967 and Becky in 1974. Anne was very active in her church. She would sing in the Choir, help with the newsletter, Christmas Bazar, Spaghetti Dinners, and enjoyed the women's group and going to plays at Covedale. Anne was a wonderful cook and baker and she specialized in her Christmas cookies and Vegetable soup. She was proud of her family and also her church family.
She was preceded in death by her husband David A. Tippenhauer, parents: Youelle and Ruth Nelson, brother: Bob Nelson; Sister in Law: Martha Scovanner, brother in law Rev. Daniel Scovanner (who married her and David), Harry Burdette and Bob Surbaugh; and sister in law Edith Lyon.
Those surviving her are her dear children: Beverly (Tom) Clifford, Jan Tippenhauer, Robert (Terance Wachtman) Tippenhauer, and Rebecca Tippenhauer; Devoted grandchildren: Emily (Mark) Koch, Clayton, Joshua, Nathan (Ashley) Clifford, Tiffany (Shaun) Patton, and Danielle (Russell) Drake; Cherished great grandchildren: Kaylib Drake, Aiden Williams, Alyssa, Chase, Dylan & Mason Patton, Caiden, Conner & Madelyn Clifford, Maren Noelle, Gia Grace Koch, and another on the way; Beloved sisters: Alice Burdette and Ruth Surbaugh; and Brother in law: Charles Lyon.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 9 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM at Miami Whitewater UMC, 9700 Dry Fork Rd, Harrison, OH 45030. Memorials may be made to Miami Whitewater UMC. If you send flowers please send potted plants. www.braterfh.com
