David E Shinkle

David E. Shinkle, of Delhi Twp, passed away in his home on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at the age of 71. He was born in Milan, Indiana to Donald and Dorothea (nee McClanahan) Shinkle on November 1, 1951. David married the love of his life, Deborah Gibson, on 7/8/1994. David loved coaching and umpiring baseball, football, and basketball. He began coaching and umpiring for his children when they were young and continued umpiring long after they had finished playing. He also thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. David was a great storyteller and wrote beautiful poetry, having a few of his poems published in the Library of Congress.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 28 years: Deborah Shinkle; devoted children: Darci (Chris) Roddy, Meredith (Eric) Kathman, Matthew (Alex) Valentour; Davone Shinkle, Drew Shinkle Sr.; beloved grandchildren: Kayla, Tanner, Drew Jr, Lexi, Leanna, Gavin, Dominic, Morgan, Carter, Charlie, Cash and Colter; and brother: John Shinkle.

David was preceded in death by his parents: Donald and Dorothea Shinkle.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, Ohio 45030, on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 11:00 am. The family requests you wear your favorite sports attire to honor David. Immediatly following the Celebration family and friends will gather at Delhi Senior Center, 647 Neeb Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45233.
