Danielle Kumpf Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Danielle Renee (nee Huffman) Kumpf on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the age of 46.

Danielle was born in Cincinnati on August 14, 1977.  She grew up in Madeira, playing softball, volleyball, and the clarinet in the marching band in high school. She was involved in Latin Club, which afforded her the opportunity to travel to Italy several times, spurring a love for travel (and perhaps her future love for wine).

Her bright smile and gregarious spirit were established early – she befriended so many and was invariably kind to all. Many have said she never met a stranger and so it was no surprise when she was voted Class Chatterbox in high school.

Summers were spent with friends and family, at the local pool, working with kids in summer programs and going to Volleyball Camps at Ohio State and the University of North Carolina.  She started working at Coffee Please! while in high school, which cemented a lifelong love of coffee (and meeting new people).

After high school, she attended Indiana University and the University of Cincinnati. She lived in Mt. Lookout until moving briefly to Cleveland for work and then moved to the ‘West side’ with her true love. For 17 years, Danielle worked for 5/3 Bank and transitioned to First Financial Bank in 2019. Danielle excelled at her job and was recently named Strategy & Innovation Specialist.

In 2002, Danielle met David Kumpf at Buca di Beppo’s while attending a birthday dinner for a mutual friend. Being the fearless woman that she was, Danielle asked Dave out on their first date. After four years of dating, Dave proposed to Danielle in Panama City and they married on May 27, 2006. They were blessed with two boys - Benjamin and Nicholas. Danielle loved being a mom and was Ben & Nick’s biggest fan in every facet of their lives. While supporting her boys in sports events or drama productions, Danielle was also busy touching people’s lives with her beautiful smile and genuine spirit. A hopeless romantic at heart, Danielle was always reminding her husband of how handsome he was. With a passion for travel (and wine), Danielle never missed an opportunity to experience new places with the people she loved. Dave and Danielle travelled to Lake Cumberland, wine country, various beaches for family vacations, went on many camping trips, and talked about travelling to Europe together. Danielle also cherished her home life that included Fire Pit Fridays, sushi night with her boys, a glass of wine, her Bailey Girl, and lounging in her pool. Danielle’s special sparkle will be deeply missed.

Danielle is survived by her husband and two sons, her parents Daniel (Valerie) Huffman and Sherill (Robert "Bob") Pattison, siblings Tim (Anna) Huffman, Mark (Richelle) Huffman, Ryan Pattison, Kristen (Mike) Mink, & David (Denise) Pattison; nieces and nephews: Mae, Grant, Alyssa, Parker, Adelyn & Hunter Huffman, Waylon & Weston Mink, Ethan & Georgia "Texas" Pattison; grandfather, Toby Tolson (Susan); brother-in-law, Don Kumpf Jr; step mother, Denise Bruce.

Danielle is preceded in death by her grandparents Mary Sue and Beverly Huffman, Gloria Tolson, great grandmother Elmira Kien, and mother and father in-law Mary Alice & Donald Kumpf Sr.
