Mary Anna (Hinton) Roll

Mary Anna Roll, of Harrison, passed away on April 16, 2024, at the age of 73.  She was born on January 4, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Woodrow J. and Mary J. (Kellogg) Hinton. She married Raymond Roll on July 19, 1969, at St. Williams Church.  Their first date was a hayride at Houston Woods. They were the chaperons at a church event.

Mary had a passion for sports, excelling in volleyball, golf (achieving a memorable hole-in-one at Robins Nest), and softball. She enjoyed family gatherings during Christmas and Easter, even donning the Easter bunny costume at Esther Price Candy. Mary and her husband Raymond traveled extensively, creating cherished memories in Hawaii and Alaska.

Her commitment to nursing was unwavering as she earned her bachelor’s degree and dedicated her career to the healthcare industry, primarily working at the Cincinnati Health Department and in geriatric nursing. A faithful member of St. Vincent dePaul and St. John the Baptist for 18 years, Mary found solace in her faith.

In 2005, Mary and Raymond decided to settle in Harrison after residing in Dent and attending St. Jude's Catholic Church. She spent significant time conducting home visits through St. Vincent de Paul, touching many lives with her compassion and care.

Those left to cherish her memory, her loving husband: Raymond Roll; devoted children: Raymond Jr. (Michelle) Roll, Ronald (Stephanie) Roll, Julianna (Jim) Paige.  beloved grandchildren: Raymond, Austin, & Caitlyn Roll, Sydney (AJ) Kitchens, Kaya, Isabella, & Ron Jr. Roll, Max & Katie Martindale, Connor Reker, & Jimmy Paige. Sister: Judy Childs; In-laws: Kathy Hinton, Vernon Harris, Donald Holtman, Sandra Roll, Mary (Paul) Sunderhaus, Donna Roll.

Mary is preceded in death by her siblings: Michael Durflinger, Woodrow Hinton, Diane Harris, Gerry Holtman and the late brother-in-law Ronald Roll.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 9am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am with Fr. Paul Rewe officiating.

Inurnment will occur at St. Josph Catholic Cemetery on West 8th Street at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent De Paul. A funeral home representative will be available to assist you with your donation during the Gathering.
