Verna Distler

Verna L. Distler (nee Haft) age 95, passed March 31, 2018 at her home. She was born on March 20, 1923 in Cincinnati Ohio to Jacob and Stella (nee Schwartz) Haft. She had two siblings Jacob and Shirley. Vena graduated high school and became a beautician. She married Melvin "Duke" Distler in 1947 and they were blessed with two children: Marlene and Daryl. Verna enjoyed gardening and they would always have fresh vegetables all year round. She loved cooking and if you ever left her house hungry it was your fault. Verna also enjoyed fishing and yard sales.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents: Jacob and Stella Haft, husband Melvin Distler; son Daryl Distler and siblings: Jacob Haft Jr. and Shirley Davis.

Those left to cherish Verna's memory are her daughter and son in law Marlene and Dave Emery; daughter in law Sandra Distler. Beloved grandchildren: Andrea Emery, Darren (Tina) Emery, Benjamin (Christen) Distler and Brian (Sarah) Distler; great grandchildren: Aubrey, Dylan, Taylor, Tonya, Luke, Kiersie, Ellie, Kaylee and Maddox.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 9:30 until the time of Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Jude Catholic Church, Bridgetown Rd. Burial to follow at Bridgetown Cemetery. Memorials to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Brater-Winter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
