Shirley Bom Obituary
Shirley A. (nee Thomas) Bom, passed away on June 14, 2016 at the age of 81. She was a resident of Colerain Township.
Shirley was born on November 6, 1934 to the late Barney Wells and Margaret M. (nee Brown) Thomas. She has one brother Kenneth. Shirley married Herbert Allen Bom. She worked as a secretary at CG & E for many years and also for CVS. Shirley enjoyed being a secretary and was always a perfectionist. She enjoyed being with her Miami Whitewater United Methodist Church friends and also giving back to the community and to those less fortunate. Shirley and Herbert enjoyed traveling and dancing. She was very good with woodworking as well. She made a rocking horse for her grandsons and even whittled wood into figurines. She was very talented but most important to her was her family and close relationships she created.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband Herbert Bom in 2006, her parents, and sister in law Kathleen Thomas.
Survivors include her loving daughter in law and son Christina and David C. Bom, PhD, MBA; two wonderful grandsons: Alexander and Nicholas; dear brother Kenneth and his wife Bunny Thomas; brother-in-law: Robert Bom; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 5 to 7 PM at Brater-Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, OH 45030. Funeral service will be on Friday at 10 AM at the funeral home with burial to follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. This can be done at the night of the visitation, day of the funeral or you may mail your donation to the funeral home. The funeral home will notify the family of your donation and mail the donations together into St. Jude's Hospital in Shirley's memory.
