Joseph Schemer Obituary

Joseph Schemer, age 92, of Cincinnati, passed away on November 8, 2017 peacefully in his home. He was born on November 6, 1925 to James and Susanna (nee Witchi) Schemer. Joe has proudly served our country during World War II for the US Army. Two years after his honorable discharge he married the love of his life Doris (nee Adams) on July 3, 1948. Together they were blessed with 4 children: Donna, Diana, Phil, and Nancy. Joe was a collector of toys and loved to share with the neighborhood kids who always called him "JoJo". He cherished the times he got to travel and would frequently adventure with his children and grandchildren. He was never found without bullseyes in his pocket and enjoyed playing solitaire. While he will be missed by his loved ones here on earth, Joe could not wait to get to heaven to be reunited with his 3 grandsons. Heaven has gained a wonderful guardian angel.

Those who will miss Joe the most is his adored wife, Doris (nee Adams). Loving children Donna (Lou) Machuca, Diana (Jim) Lind, Phil (Debbie) Schemer, and Nancy (Kevin) Ostmeyer. Cherished grandchildren Jennifer Machuca, John (Ericka) and Brian (Julie) Machuca, Jason, Steven (Lauren), Kathy, and Michael (Tiffani) Lind, Greg Schemer, and Jake Ostmeyer. Caring great-grandchildren Samantha, Scarlet, Aden, Avery, Lilah, Alex, Tommy, Abigail, Jaxson, Hanna, Cody, and Skylah.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, 3 grandsons: Jeff, Tommy, and Matt Schemer; and his grandson-in-law Greg Stubleski.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 3 PM to 5 PM with blessing service and military honors to follow at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, OH 45030. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Cincinnati, or a charity of your choice in honor of Joe. Memorials can be made through the funeral at the visitation or may be mailed to the funeral home.
