Harrel E. Lail, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at his home in Blue Jay at the age of 91.
He was born on August 20, 1925 in Conover, NC to the late Clarence L. & Bertha E (nee Hefner) Lail. Harrel served in the US Army during WWII from March 31, 1946 until June 3, 1947. He married Lois Ann Ritchie and they were blessed with 4 daughters: Linda, Diane, Betty and Carol. Harrel was a designer engineer at Gold Metal and he designed the popcorn machine on wheels and the snow cone machine. He was a proud lifetime member of the NRA. In his earlier years he enjoyed boating, fishing and was a volunteer fireman. As he aged he enjoyed being with his family and being at home. He thoroughly enjoyed being on his John Deere tractor and taking care of his property and home. Before his wife died they enjoyed driving around the farm on the golf cart together. When she passed in 2014 Harrel was devastated but his family helped him through the difficult time. His family will miss him dearly but they are comforted knowing that Harrel and Lois are together again.
Harrel was preceded in death by his wife Lois Ann (nee Ritchie) Lail, parents and siblings: Margaret Setzer & Richard Lail.
Those who will miss him most are his loving daughters: Linda (Rick) Stapleton, Diane (Jim) Richards, Betty (Jim) Nagele, Carol (Craig) Rolfes; cherished grandchildren: Daphne (T.J.)
