Frank Westrich Obituary

Frank Irvin, age 85, resident of Bright Indiana passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Hospice-Twin Towers. He was born on November 4, 1930 to parents: Michael & Anabel (nee Grimes) Westrich. Frank was the youngest of 8 children (and the seventh son) and grew up with Vella, Milburn, Robert, Mike, George, Walter & Charles. He attended school in Bright Indiana. Frank married Mary Smith on November 5, 1949 and they were married 66 years. They were blessed with one daughter, Janilee. Frank entered the service in 1952 and served our country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. When he returned from the Army, he began working at Fernald and worked there nearly 40 years. He was always busy, and always had a second job that he worked at. He enjoyed painting houses, and his family says he has painted most of the homes in Bright. Frank also worked as a "gravedigger" at the Gibson Cemetery for a number of years. After he retired from Fernald, he began working as a bag boy at the Harrison Kroger. He thoroughly enjoyed his time there, and meeting new people. He never met a stranger and loved talking with people. Frank has been a lifelong member of the Dearborn Hills United Methodist Church and was one of many men who helped build the church. He was a avid sports fan, loved the Cincinnati Reds and all football: high school, college and the Bengals.
Those surviving who will honor his memory include his loving wife: Mary (nee Smith) Westrich; devoted daughter: Janilee (Tim) Hamer; dear grandchildren: Chris (Leanna) Courtney, Terri (Andy) Doll, Tim Hamer, and Tynille (William) Brayton; loving great grandchildren: Trevor & Colin Courtney, Ben, Sam, & Jacob Doll, and Annie & Reili Brayton; and beloved sister-in-laws: Shirley Smith & Viola Westrich.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Michael & Anabel (nee Grimes) Westrich; infant son: Gregory Dale Westrich; siblings: Vella (Elmer) Wolfer, Milburn (Bootz), Robert, Mike (Barbara) George (Esther), Walter (Joan), and Charles Westrich; and brother-in-law: Dale Smith.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 10AM until the time of Service at 12PM at the Dearborn Hills UMC, 25365 Stateline Road, Lawrenceburg, IN. 47025. Burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati or a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.
